Camden, NJ – Two Camden police officers were shot Tuesday night, as multiple National Night Out events were taking place in the city.
According to NBC10, a male and a female detective were at Mount Vernon Street and Broadway around 8:30 p.m. when a gunman shot them.
The gunman got away and police are actively hunting him.
No suspect description has been released at this time. A manhunt is underway.
Both officers were transported to Cooper University Hospital and are expected to survive.
The shooting comes during National Night Out as police departments around the country attend events to help bring the police and community closer together.
UPDATE: The two detectives were in plainclothes in an unmarked car stopped at a red light when a gunman ambushed them, shooting 10-25 rounds at them through their windshield.
