Snellville, GA – A Gwinnett County police officer was shot behind Shiloh Middle School Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 3 p.m. as officers located a suspicious vehicle parked behind the middle school.
Gwinnett County Sergeant Smith told reporters that as the officers approached, a gunman opened fire from inside of the vehicle, shooting one of the officers through the glass.
One officer was transported to the hospital in critical condition for gunshot wounds.
It’s not clear if police fired shots or if the suspects were wounded.
Police officers with SWAT could be seen swarming the area following the shooting, and a helicopter is assisting in a search for suspects.
No suspect information has been released at this time.
