Mobile, AL – A Mobile police officer was murdered in the line of duty Sunday afternoon.
Officer Sean Tuder was attempting to arrest 19-year-old Marco Perez on Leroy Stevens Rd at around 3 p.m., according to WPMI.
Officials have not released what happened leading up to the shooting, but they say that at some point, a gunman fatally shot Officer Tuder.
Perez was taken into custody by other officers.
“We’re trying to make sense of how we can have another brother lose his life in less than a year,” Chief Lawrence Battiste said at a press conference.
Mobile Police Officer Justin Billa was murdered last year while attempting to apprehend a murder suspect.
Just months before, the department lost Sergeant Jeremy Franks in a collision.
The chief asked for patience while they investigate before they release the details of the shooting.
Officer Tuder was a 3-year veteran of the department.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Tuder and the mobile police department.
