Ocala, FL – A gunman fatally shot a woman in the Ocala Walmart Saturday afternoon and was able to avoid capture.

Authorities initially received a report of an active shooter in the Walmart at around 2:30 p.m.

The gunman was gone by the time they arrived, but a female was found fatally shot on scene, according to the police department.

Authorities were able to determine that the woman had run into the store screaming for help. Walmart employees called 911 and attempted to intervene.

The male suspect then fatally shot the woman in what is believed to be a domestic violence incident. The suspect then fled the area.

Police have determined his identify and are will be releasing the suspect information shortly.

UPDATE: The suspect was located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and has been transported to the hospital.

Nobody else was injured in the shooting.
