Lafayette, LA – A Lafayette police officer was murdered late Sunday night after a suspect gunned him down in a convenience store.
The incident happened shortly after 10 PM when a call came in from the store at the corner of Moss Street and Van Buren Drive, according to KATC. The call was reportedly for a battery and shots fired.
When the officer arrived, the suspect opened fire, fatally shooting the hero.
The suspect then fled on foot and was located a short distance away where he was taken into custody.
Neither the officer or suspect have been identified at this time.
