Gainesville, FL – Florida Governor Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency in Alachua County ahead of a planned speech by Richard Spencer at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville.

Spencer is a well-known white nationalist.

In the seven-page executive order, Gov. Scott said, “I find that the threat of a potential emergency is imminent,” according to Tampa Bay times.

In a statement, Gov. Scott said, “We live in a country where everyone has the right to voice their opinion. However, we have zero tolerance for violence and public safety is always our number one priority.

“I have been in constant contact with Sheriff Darnell who has requested this Executive Order to ensure that county and local law enforcement have every needed resource.

“This executive order is an additional step to ensure that the University of Florida and the entire community is prepared so everyone can stay safe.”

The order activates Florida’s Mutual Aid Plan to allow the state and county to “quickly coordinate resources from other state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies.”

The order also gives state agencies the power to suspend regulations for purchasing, travel, and personnel actions.

Richard Spencer is a figurehead white nationalist who coined the term “alt-right” for white nationalists as part of a PR move, because “alt-right” sounds better than “racist asshole.”

The term “alt-right” was then misused by the media and left-wing commentators to describe any Trump supporters or anybody outside of the mainstream right. Due to the gross misuse of the term, the racist roots of “alt-right” were largely obscured, which is exactly what Spencer wanted.

Spencer tends to attract crowds of violent antifa. Gov. Scott noted that Spencer’s prior speeches in Virginia, Alabama, California, and Texas have resulted in violence and civil unrest from people “protesting” Spencer.
