Houston, TX – Five officers have reportedly been shot in southeast Houston Monday evening.
The incident is occurring in the area of Crosstimbers and Harding.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo reported at 5:10 p.m., ” We have had several officers shot please pray for officers on the way to the scene now more information to follow.”
Local reporters are reporting five officers down.
Additional officers are swarming the area.
No information about the suspect or circumstances have been released at this time. UPDATE: The gunman has been put down, according to Mayor Sylvester Turner. KHOU reports one suspect in custody and an additional suspect may still be at large.
UPDATE: The officers were serving a warrant when they were shot. Even though one gunman is down, two suspects are believed to be barricaded.
UPDATE: Houston PD advised: ” HPD responding to a scene at 7800 Harding where officers have been struck with gunfire following an encounter with a suspect. Officers are en route to the hospital. Please avoid the area and yield for emergency vehicles. Further updates will be provided as available. At this time we can confirm 5 officers have been struck and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, Medical Center and Ben Taub General Hospital. Further updates will be provided as available.”
The conditions of the officers is not known at this time.
