BREAKING: Five Officers Down At ‘Active Shooter’ In Florence

Florence, SC – Three Florence County Deputies and two Florence PD officers are reported to have been shot at an “active shooter,” and the gunman is still believed to be engaging police in a gunfight at the time of this writing.

The incident is happening in Vintage Place off of Hoffmeyer Rd, according to WPDE reporter Tonya Brown, who reported that five officers have been shot.

The scene is still very active and Brown reports that West Florence High School is on lockdown.

Everybody is being advised to avoid the area as the scene is still active.

There is no information at this time about the condition of the officers.

UPDATE: Florence County Emergency Management says “The active shooting situation is over and the suspect is in custody. We are asking everyone to stay away from Vintage Place as there is still an active crime investigation in progress.”

UPDATE: The coroner confirmed at least one officer has succumbed to their injuries.
