Duluth, MN – A Duluth police officer and a police K9 were shot Sunday night.
The incident happened at around 6:30 p.m. at a home in West Skyline Parkway and Observation Road, according to CBS3.
The details about the incident have not officially been released at this time.
During the incident, a police officer and K9 were both shot. The police department tweeted out an image which suggests that the K9 didn’t survive.
The suspect was destroyed in the gunfight.
The officer was transported to the hospital and their condition has not been released.
UPDATE: Officers responded to a domestic violence assault involving a weapon according to CBS3. Upon arrival they tried to negotiate with the suspect to convince him to surrender.
About an hour into negotiations, the man opened fire on officers, fatally striking a police K9. A police officer was wounded in the gunfight and is expected to survive.
No identities have been released at this time.
