Dad County, GA – A Dade County deputy was hit by a vehicle during a pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Details are still developing and this information is preliminary and subject to change.

Preliminary details are that police were pursuing a burglary suspect when a Dade County deputy tried to lay down spike strips. That deputy was then struck by the fleeing Ford pickup, according to WDEF.

Some of the officers stopped and rendered aid to the deputy before he could be airlifted to the hospital.

The deputy is in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle continued into the courthouse square in Trenton where it crashed into a pole.

The male and female occupants are now in custody.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the wounded deputy.
