Aberdeen, MD – Multiple people were shot at a warehouse in Maryland on Thursday morning.

One witness told WBAL that more than five people were shot, but authorities have not released any detailed information because the scene was still active.

The shootings, which took place in a business park area about 55 miles northeast of Baltimore, happened just after 9 a.m. on Sept. 20, USA Today reported.

Officials said deputies responded to a call in the 1500-block of Perryman Road, in the area of Spesutia Road, WBAL reported.

Colleen Hendrickson, who lives nearby the business park, said she encountered a chaotic scene.

“I don’t know how many people die, but I think it was really bad,” she told WBAL.

The area continued to be locked down almost two hours after the incident began.

“There’s a lot of police activity and ambulances and fire engines. They have the whole area blocked off. We’ve been able to get in and out. We have our business locked down since we’re so close. There’s not any way to get out of the area, so I can only imagine there’s still someone they’re searching for,” David Graf, of New German Performance, told WBAL.

Grab told WBAL that he thought the shooting’s occurred in a Rite Aid distribution center.

Another witness, who did not want to share his last name, told WBAL he got blocked in by emergency vehicles at the scene.

“We were like two blocks over when we got completely bombarded by – I’m not exaggerating – 20-30 cops, and then ambulances and everything started pouring in. At that point, they blocked us in and we tried to turn around,” Bo said. “They’re telling us that there is an active shooter.”

“This happened inside the warehouse (on Perryman Road),” Bo said. “They called a bunch of EMS and they told us they were carrying out another five victims.”

“We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting,” Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted. “Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The State stands ready to offer any support.”

Nearby Church Creek Elementary School is on a modified lock down, according to WBAL. Drivers have been asked to avoid roads in the immediate area.
