Laredo, TX – State troopers captured a U.S. Border Patrol Agent after he fled from them, and now he's suspected of killing at least 4 women.
Agent Juan David Ortiz allegedly attempted to abduct a woman on Saturday, but she was able to escape.
Texas Department of Public Safety responded and Ortiz fled from the troopers.
Officers were able to locate him hiding in a parking lot in Laredo and they took him into custody.
Undisclosed evidence implicates Ortiz in the murder of at least 4 women, in addition to the abduction of the woman who escaped.
Sheriff Martin Cuellar said that they have “very strong evidence" that Ortiz is a serial killer, according to The Washington Post.
Authorities have declined to release any information about the killing at this time other than to say that all of the victims were prostitutes.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that Ortiz is an active supervisory Border Patrol agent.
Ortiz is expected to be booked on four charges of murder and one charge of aggravated kidnapping.
