Comedian Amy Schumer said people of color face “police brutality and murders” and questioned whether white players who don’t participate in the anti-police National Anthem protests are complicit in racism.

Schumer made her views public in an Oct. 19 Instagram post where she said she would not be in any Super Bowl commercials and compared the National Football League to the National Rifle Association.

“I wonder why more white players aren’t kneeling,” Schumer posted.

“Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit?” she added.

Actual studies on police brutality don’t support her position.

She said it would be “cool” if the band Maroon 5 backed out of performing at the Super Bowl like Rihanna did. Fox News reported that Maroon 5 was set to perform at the halftime show of the Super Bowl.

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine previously appeared in a video with other celebrities saying that police kill black people for no reason.

In the video, Levine said that Jamar Clark was shot by police for attending a birthday party.

Jamar Clark was shot after police tried to arrest him during a confrontation with paramedics. He resisted arrest and grabbed an officer’s gun before he was shot.

Local activists later claimed that Clark was laying on the ground handcuffed when police executed him for no reason, despite 10 paramedic and law enforcement witnesses who said otherwise.

“I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year,” Schumer said. “I know it must sound like a privilege a*s sacrifice but it’s all i got. Hitting the nfl with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them. I know opposing the nfl is like opposing the nra. Very tough, but don’t you want to be proud of how you’re living? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color.”

Schumer also wrote the “hottest thing a guy” can do was to get down on one knee. “Not to propose but to reject the treatment of his teammates by this country,” she wrote.

Schumer also made reference to Colin Kaepernick during her Instagram post. Kaepernick is the former NFL quarterback who started the National Anthem protests in 2016.

In October, Schumer and model Emily Ratajkowski were arrested during protests over the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, according to CNN.
