Barron, WI – Police are searching for a 13-year-old girl they believe is “missing and endangered.”

Authorities discovered Jayme Closs had disappeared after they received an anonymous 911 call from her home at about 1 a.m. on Monday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Barron County sheriff’s deputies responded to the home and found Jayme’s parents, James and Denise Closs, dead and their 13-year-old daughter missing, according to WJW.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said Jayme is not a suspect in her parents’ murders.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said investigators do not believe that Jayme ran away.

“I’m telling you, Jayme is missing and endangered,” he told reporters, according to WJW.

Sheriff Fitzgerald has asked for the public’s help with any information anybody might have about what could have happened to the girl.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were assisting with the search for Jayme, the sheriff said.

Although police have no description of whomever may have abducted the 13-year-old girl, they put out an Amber Alert on Monday with the basic information, and got a hit on it on Tuesday.

Police said Jayme may have been seen at a gas station in Miami on Monday afternoon, about 1,700 miles away from where she disappeared.

If the girl spotted was Jayme, they were traveling in black Ford Explorer with a possible Wisconsin license plate of I60WER, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
