Albany, NY – New York State Trooper Stephanie Seney passed away on Aug. 24, following an eight-month battle with a “rare and aggressive form of cancer,” her family said.

Trooper Seney, 25, graduated from the New York State Police Academy on Jan. 31, the Times Union reported.

She was assigned to Troop K Livingston, and also served as a medical technician in the New York Air National Guard 109th Air Lift Wing Scotia, according to her obituary.

“Today, I had a wonderful day,” Trooper Seney wrote in a Facebook post on July 27. “My Major and Captain from NYSP came up to have lunch with me. Congressman Faso also come to our house to deliver a beautiful letter for me, all the way from our Commander-in-Chief, President Donald J. Trump. Could I [have] had a more exciting day?”

“Stephanie was devoted to serving her country and did so proudly,” her obituary read.

On Aug. 1, Trooper Seney announced she had been accepted into an immunotherapy clinical trial.

“That means no more chemotherapy while I’m on this new treatment,” the mother-of-two wrote. “Hopefully, this different treatment will allow me to fulfill my dreams…Thank you for everyone’s support once again. I couldn’t do this without everyone!”

Trooper Seney leaves behind her children, John and Grace, as well as her husband of over three years, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Seney, according to her obituary.

She is also survived by her parents, siblings, and many friends and extended family members.

Trooper Seney was laid to rest on Wednesday.
