Madison, OH – Madison Village Police Department Officer Michael Huffman died in the line of duty from apparent natural causes on Nov. 14, according to his department.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Madison Village Patrol Officer Michael A. Huffman,” the Madison Village Police Department said in a press release. “Officer Huffman passed away from apparent natural causes during his patrol shift in the early morning hours of November 14, 2018.”
“He was a dedicated officer and will be greatly missed by the men and women of the department,” the agency’s release read. “Our condolences and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
Officer Huffman, 52, served the Geneva On The Lake Police Department and the Orwell Police Department prior to joining the Madison Village Police Department in February of 1999, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He simultaneously served as a Perry Village police officer from 2007 until 2013.
In addition to his decades of service as a law enforcement officer, Officer Huffman was also a member and Past Master of the Masonic Temple Lodge 28, according to his obituary.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, and being a member of the Painesville United Methodist Church.
Officer Huffman leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Viola, as well as his children, Rachel, Sarah, and Clayton.
He is also survived by his mother, granddaughter, siblings, and many friends and extended family members.
Officer Huffman will be laid to rest on Friday.
