Washington Township, PA – DuBois City Police Officer Patrick Straub was killed in an off-duty motor vehicle crash as he was traveling with his wife and young daughter on Monday evening.

Officer Straub also served as an officer for the Sandy Township Police Department.

Officer Straub, 33, and his family were traveling through Washington Township in his 2015 Toyota 4 Runner at approximately 7:10 p.m., when 32-year-old Corey Williams lost control of his 1998 Jeep Cherokee, the Gant News reported.

Williams’ vehicle, which was traveling southbound, then collided with Officer Straub’s Toyota.

Williams and Officer Straub both died at the scene.

Officer Straub’s 34-year-old wife and 3-year-old daughter were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Officer Straub was a 5-year veteran of the DuBois Police Department, the agency said in a Facebook post.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that the DuBois City Police Department announces that one of our own, Officer Patrick Straub…has succumbed to injures due to a motor vehicle crash,” the agency wrote. “’Strauby’ will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.”

“Our condolences to his family and we ask that you please pray for Pat and his family,” the police department said.

The Sandy Township Police Department expressed “profound sadness” in the wake of the loss of their officer.

Officer Straub will be laid to rest on Friday, according to DuBois City police.
