Cumby, TX – Cumby Police Officer Jarrod Friddle died of a sudden medical event after he arrived home from his shift on the evening of July 9.

Officer Friddle, 40, served the five-member Cumby Police Department for two years, KRLD reported.

“It’s a loss to our department, our community and our hearts,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

Cumby Police Chief Paul Robertson said that Officer Friddle was “always there for anything anyone needed,” and said he was a “good officer” who was “really reliable,” KRLD reported.

“Jarrod’s passion for helping others compelled him to become a police officer,” his obituary read.

Officer Friddle leaves behind his wife, Carrie, and their five young children, as well as his parents, brothers, and extended family members.

He was laid to rest on Friday.

“Yesterday was Cumby Police Officer Jarrod Friddle’s funeral,” the police department later said in a Facebook post. “It was a hard day for all of us here at Cumby PD, and exceptionally hard for his wife and the rest his family.”

The department thanked area law enforcement agencies and community partners for assisting them and Officer Friddle’s family with the fallen hero’s memorial service.

“I can’t thank these people enough and may spend a life time repaying their kindness and professionalism, but it was all well worth it!” the post read. “Officer Jarrod Friddle’s funeral was a great send off to heaven and I am for certain he was happy with all of it!”

A fundraising account has been established to help provide assistance for Officer Friddle’s widow and children.
