Carroll County, GA – Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Deputy Shainah Bennett Conn died on June 17 after a heroic battle against cancer, according to her family.

The 33-year-old mother of four passed away at her home.

The CCSO confirmed the young deputy’s death in a press release later that day with her family’s permission.

The sheriff’s office said Deputy Conn fought “a heroic battle.”

“Deputy Conn served her community with pride and was one of the strongest women we all had the pleasure to know,” the sheriff’s office continued. “She was a fighter to the end, and we ask that everyone stop and pray for her [children] as they learn to navigate this life without their precious mother.”

Deputy Conn joined the CCSO as a 911 telecommunicator and later became a sworn deputy, according to her obituary.

She served on the Honor Guard and the agency’s SWAT team.

Hundreds of people offered their condolences to the CCSO and Deputy Conn’s family in the wake of the department’s announcement.

“Heartbreaking. Prayers for comfort for her loved ones and strength for her department,” one message read.

“She was an amazing person! She will be missed,” another person wrote. “Praying for her family.”

Deputy Conn leaves behind her children, Haylee, Paige, Carter, and Wyatt.

She is also survived by her boyfriend, parents, siblings, grandfather, uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces.

“Deputy Conn, fly high, we love you, we will miss you always, and we will continue to fight the good fight in your memory,” the CCSO said.

Deputy Conn was laid to rest on June 21.

Her best friend and coworker, Carroll County Dispatcher Katie Ann Cason, issued her final radio call the same day, the CCSO said in a Facebook post.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Deputy Shainah Bennett Conn, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.
