Hero Down: Bal Harbour Chief Miguel De La Rosa Dies

Bal Harbour, FL – Bal Harbor Police Department Chief Miguel De La Rosa, 49, died on Saturday after a battle with cancer.

Chief De La Rosa died just four months after he was appointed the police chief, following the death of Chief Mark Overton from a heart attack in 2016, according to Miami Herald.

Coral Gables Department Fire Chief Marcos De La Rosa tweeted out. “Broken-hearted to say good by to my twin, best friend, and hero. No words can ever do justice for how much I love you. Miss You already. I got you!”

According to Miami Herald, Mayor Gabriel Groisman said in a statement, “We are incredibly and deeply saddened by the loss of such a dedicated public servant who spent his life protecting others.”

Chief De la Rosa is survived by his wife and two daughters.
