New Kensington, PA – A police officer was fatally shot on Friday night in New Kensington.
Law enforcement is flooding the area in an attempt to locate the killer who is still at large.
The Tribune Journal reports that the incident started as a traffic stop in the area of the 1200 block of Leishman Avenue at around 8:00 p.m., and at some point the officer was fatally shot.
Scanner traffic indicates that officers are searching for a possible suspect associated with a medium to small-sized SUV with a possible temporary plate KNP 9119 registered to a Penn Hills address. There are conflicting reports about the color of the vehicle.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the fallen hero’s family and all of the officers out hunting for the killer.
