Denver, CO – An FBI agent is under investigation for accidentally shooting a man while dancing off-duty at a bar.
The shooting was captured on video (below.)
The incident happened 12:45 a.m. Saturday morning at Mile High Spirits, according to The Denver Post.
Video shows the off-duty FBI agent dancing. While dancing, the agent did a backflip which caused his gun to drop out and hit the ground.
The gun didn’t fire when it hit the ground, but while picking up the gun, the agent appears to have put his booger hook on the bang switch.
The gun fired, and a male onlooker was shot in the leg.
A witness told KDVR, “Everyone was kind of shocked after it happened because [the agent] kind of put his gun back away and then he walked away.”
The victim was transported to the hospital and has a “good prognosis,” according to KDVR.
Denver PD responded, and took the FBI agent to police headquarters before releasing him to an FBI supervisor. The agent was not identified.
The Denver homicide unit is investigating the incident, and CBS4 reports that they drew blood from the agent to determine if alcohol was a factor.
After the blood test results are back, the investigation will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office to make a decision on what criminal charges will be filed.
