Woman Fatally Shot By Ex While On Phone With 911, Police Say

Lewisville, TX – A man fatally shot his ex-wife while she was on the phone with a 911 operator early Thursday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred at The Tides at Lewisville apartment complex located in the 200-block of East Farm-to-Market Road 3040 at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 27, KXAS reported.

Lewisville police said a woman called 911 and could be heard arguing with a male.

The woman then told the dispatcher that her marriage to the male had recently ended and that they were in an argument in the parking lot of the apartment complex, KXAS reported.

While she was speaking with the dispatcher, multiple gunshots rang out, according to police.

The phone line then went silent.

“At that time, witnesses called 911 to report the male had shot the female multiple times, then shot himself,” the Lewisville Police Department (LPD) said in a statement, according to KXAS. “When officers arrived, they found the female lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshots to her chest, and the male lying in the parking lot with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot to his head.”

The victim and the suspect were both rushed to Medical City Lewisville, where the woman was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 a.m., according to police.

The male suspect was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Investigators did not immediately release their identities, KXAS reported.

The LPD said officers had responded to the same address for domestic violence issues in the past.

One of those instances involved allegations that the man had slashed the tires of the woman’s vehicle, CBS News reported.

An LPD spokesperson said the couple was recently divorced.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
