Atlanta, GA – A woman caused an upset on a flight from Syracuse to Atlanta when she started to breastfeed her hairless cat, something that caught the attention of the flight crew.
A flight attendant sent a message via the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) while the flight was in process to alert the crew of the situation, according to Fox News. The message stated that the passenger in seat “13A is breastfeeding a cat and will not put the cat back in its carried when [flight attendant] requested.”
The internal message requested that Delta’s “Red Coat” team greet the woman when the flight set down in Atlanta, Fox News reported. The Red Coat team is what the airline refers to as its customer service experts.
Fox News reported the flight attendant went on social media and provided more details on the Nov. 13 flight.
“This woman had one of those, like, hairless cats swaddled up in a blanket so it looked like a baby…her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch and she wouldn’t put the cat back in the carrier,” the flight attendant stated on social media, according to Fox News.
The flight attendant stated that the “cat was screaming for its life.”
WGCL reported that Delta Airlines’ policy on pets allows for small cats on board provided they remain in a ventilated pet carrier that can fit under the seat.
The story caught the attention of the opinion blog Snopes, which stated it could not confirm the incident. Snopes reported that there was a TikTok video allegedly posted by a flight attendant on the plane that showed the flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth discussing the incident.
According to Snopes, Elizabeth stated, “This is just so crazy. This woman had like one of those hairless cats swaddled up so it would look like a baby. And her shirt was up, and she was trying to get her cat to latch, and she wouldn’t put the cat back in the carrier and the cat was screaming for her life… you know those little butter packets you get when they don’t have olive oil… she put the butter (motioning to her nipple) yeah.”
