Woman Calls 911 And Asks To Order A Pizza, Summoning Help To Save Her Mom

An Ohio woman called 911 and pretended to order a pizza in order to summon help in a domestic violence situation.

Oregon, OH – The innovative daughter of a woman who was being beaten up by her boyfriend called 911 for help and pretended to order a pizza (video below).

Oregon Police Chief Michael Navarre said the 38-year-old daughter of an alleged domestic violence victim was able to call for help after she tricked the suspect into thinking she was just calling to order a pizza, WTVG reported.

Chief Navarre said the 911 caller said she didn’t want the man abusing her mother to know she had called the police because she didn’t want him to run away before officers arrived.

So she dialed 911 and told the briefly-confused dispatcher that she wanted to order a pizza and provided her address, WTVG reported.

“You called 911 to order a pizza?” the dispatcher asked in the audio recording of the call.

The daughter replied that she was and repeated the apartment number.

“This is the wrong number to call for a pizza,” the dispatcher told her, sounding confused.

“You’re not understanding,” the daughter told the dispatcher on the recording.

The dispatcher quickly figured out what was going on.

“I’m getting you now,” Dispatcher Tim Teneyck assured her.

Then Teneyck asked the caller if the man was still there.

“Yep. I need a large pizza,” the daughter replied.

“All right. How about medical? You need medical?” the dispatcher asked her on the recording.

“No, with pepperoni,” the daughter responded.

As an added precaution, Teneyck told responding officers to turn their sirens off before approaching the home because the caller had improvised and made it seem like she was ordering a pizza, according to CNN.

The police dispatcher said that he’s never had that happen in his 14 years on the job, WTVG reported.

“You see it on Facebook, but it’s not something that anybody has ever been trained for. We’re just trained to listen,” Teneyck told WTVG. “Other dispatchers that I’ve talked to would not have picked up on this. They’ve told me they wouldn’t have picked up on this.”

Oregon police arrested 56-year-old Simon Lopez on one count of domestic violence, according to CNN.
