Sioux City, IA – A woman was arrested on drug charges after she asked police to check her drugs for coronavirus.
Shawn Salmen, 53, drove to the Sioux City Police Department on Sunday, according to KCAU.
The police said she appeared to be impaired and was displaying erratic behavior, paranoia, profuse sweating and told police she had used methamphetamine, KCAU reported.
The police report said that Salmen asked the police to check her meth for the coronavirus.
The police officers asked to search Salmen and her vehicle, KCAU reported. She consented to the search and police found 14.4 grams of methamphetamine. Police also found a large leafy substance that Salmen claimed was marijuana, according to KCAU. There was also drug paraphernalia in her car.
Salmen was charged with failure to affix a drug tax stamp and controlled substance violation. She was charged with first-offense of possession of marijuana, KCAU reported.
She was given a drug test and taken to jail.
