Virginia English Teacher Arrested For Ongoing Relationship With Student

York County, VA – A Tabb High School English teacher was arrested after somebody tipped off school administrators about a relationship she’d been having with a student.

The investigation began when the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) received a report from the school district that 32-year-old Kristen McAllister was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with at least one of her students, Williamsburg Yorktown Daily reported.

“On the evening of Wednesday, June 8, Tabb High School and division administrators were informed of an allegation of unprofessional conduct by a school employee involving a minor,” the York County School Division wrote in a statement posted to social media. “We immediately reported the allegations to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office and turned the matter over to law enforcement.”

YPSO Major Ron Montgomery said McAllister was accused of having an ongoing inappropriate relationship with a student that went back to 2021, WVEC reported.

Maj. Montgomery said investigators interviewed the person who reported the conduct and the student who was allegedly involved in the relationship with the teacher.

Detectives interviewed McAllister on Thursday morning, according to WVEC.

“She was arrested and taken into custody at the school board office,” Maj. Montgomery said.

McAllister was charged with two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, WVEC reported.

“At this point in time, there’s nothing to suggest that any force was used,” Maj. Montgomery told reporters.

Authorities have called for any other victims of the English teacher to come forward, WVEC reported.

“What we are taking away as a positive from this is that someone became aware of these very serious allegations and took the time to report this to the school division, who then contacted us,” Maj. Montgomery said.

Online jail records showed McAllister was released on bond later the same day she was arrested, WVEC reported.
