Portage, IN – Portage police said they were attacked by a trio of suspects on Saturday night, leaving one officer with a fractured orbital bone and several officers covered in blood that one of the suspects was allegedly flinging at them.

The officers said that the three suspects all appeared to be very intoxicated.
According to court documents, Matthew Gonzalez kept trying to walk away to another room as the officer were trying to speak with him, his wife, and Johnson about the large brawl that had taken place outside the house, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported.
Police said Holly Gonzalez suddenly started shoving one of the officers and was subsequently taken to the ground.
Her husband allegedly clenched his fist and punched a second officer in the face, then wrapped his arm around the officer’s neck in a “guillotine chokehold,” according to the incident report.
One of the officers discharged his Taser multiple times to subdue Matthew Gonzalez, who was ultimately wrestled into handcuffs, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported.
Meanwhile, Johnson was allegedly flinging his blood all over the officers while resisting their efforts to arrest him, according to police.
He was also subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.

The officer suffered bruising, multiple cuts to his right eye, and a right orbital bone fracture, according to police.
A second offer said he suffered elbow and thumb injuries during the brawl with Matthew Gonzalez.
Johnson was arrested on two counts of resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported.
