VIDEO: Woman Randomly Attacked At Gas Pump As People Watch, Do Nothing To Help

Gardena, CA – A California woman was brutally beaten in a random attack at a gas station in Gardena while passersby did nothing to help or stop her attacker (video below).

The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on May 30 at a gas station located in the 500-block of Rosecranz Avenue, KTTV reported.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) said in a press released posted to its official Facebook page that a Hispanic female was pumping gas when the suspect pulled his SUV into the pump lane facing her vehicle.

The surveillance video from the gas station showed the man calmly got out of his matte black Ford Expedition and walked around to the back of the woman’s car, as she stood next to it pumping gas.

The video showed the woman didn’t even notice the man approaching her until a split second before he punched her in the face.

The woman’s vehicle blocked the view of her on the ground but the man could be seen standing over her, continuing to punch her on the ground.

“While the victim was on the ground, the suspect repeatedly punched her in the head and face,” LASD posted. “During the attack, the suspect grabbed the victim’s hair and slammed her head against the vehicle and onto the ground several times.”

LASD said the woman did not recognize her attacker as anyone she knew.

Passersby in a white SUV on the road beside the gas station appeared to stop and watch the assault occur, but did nothing to try and stop it.

Another customer who was filling his gas tank on the opposite side of the island looked over at what was happening and did nothing to intervene, the video showed.

About 90 seconds after the violent, unprovoked attack began, the surveillance video showed that customer got into his car and slowly backed away from the attack as three men came out of the gas station’s store and approached the man.

The video showed that the white SUV from the roadway pulled into the gas station and rolled up beside where the men were talking to the suspect, but didn’t get out to help.

One of the men took the attacker by the arm and gently led him away from the woman he had just beaten, the video showed.

Then the suspect got back into his own SUV and left the gas station without anyone trying to stop him.

LASD said the victim told them that the suspect hadn’t stolen any of her belongings during the attack, according to the press release.

She sustained serious injuries to her head and face and was transported to the hospital for treatment, the sheriff’s department said.

The victim was treated and released to convalesce at home, FOX News reported.

On Friday night, the LASD Century Station announced that the man believed to be the suspect in the attack had been taken into custody in Long Beach, KTTV reported.

Authorities have not released any other details.
