A woman told police she was assaulted for her political views in the nation's capital.

Washington, DC – Police have released surveillance footage in an attempt to identify two woman who allegedly assaulted another woman when she told them she was a supporter of President Donald Trump (video below).

Police have called the attack a “suspected hate crime,” according to WTTG.

The attack occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on March 16, when the 29-year-old woman overheard the two assailants and their male companion having a political conversation inside the close quarters of the Surfside Restaurant, The Washington Post reported.

According to police, the woman, identified only as “Maricela,” interjected herself into their conversation, and expressed her own political views, WTTG reported.

“I support Donald Trump,” she told the women.

“I stood by my views, then they called me a racist, and then they started attacking me,” Maricela recounted to WTTG.

The video showed one of the women as she lunged towards a person who seemed to be recording her with a cell phone. The attacker appeared to have struck the person behind the camera in the head or upper body.

Maricela said that both women assaulted her, while the man they were with tried to stop them.

She took herself to the hospital in Bethesda following the attack, she said.

“After it happened, I got a bruised right eye,” Maricela told WTTG. “My blood vessels inside my eye burst. I got a fractured finger, a bruised knee, and minor bruises all over my body.”

Police released the surveillance video in an attempt to identify the “persons of interest” who allegedly assaulted Maricela, The Washington Post reported.

According to WTTG, both women are wanted for felony assault.

A reward of $1,000 has also been offered, according to FOX News.
