VIDEO: Suspect Fights Off 3 NYPD Officers During Traffic Stop, Escapes

Manhattan, NY – New York City police are searching for a suspect who fought off three officers during a traffic stop brawl earlier this month (video below).

The incident occurred near Lafayette Street and White Street at approximately 11 p.m. on March 9, the New York Post reported.

Police stopped the driver of a Dodge Charger after allegedly observing a traffic violation, according to a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson.

The exact nature of the violation was not released.

Officers ultimately determined the temporary license plate on the car had been altered, according to the NYPD.

But when the officers went to take the unidentified driver into custody, he began fighting with them, cell phone footage showed.

The brawl was already underway when the clip began.

The video showed three NYPD officers struggling with the suspect on the ground just before the suspect managed to get back onto his feet.

He shoved one officer into a car, slamming his head into the back bumper and knocking him to the pavement.

As a second downed officer struggled to get back up, the third officer tried to stop the suspect from jumping back behind the wheel of the car, the video showed.

The suspect managed to pull away from him and revved the car’s engine repeatedly as another officer fired his Taser at him at least twice to no avail.

The driver then stomped on the accelerator and sped off down the street, leaving the three officers behind.

Two of the officers involved in the fight suffered minor injuries, the New York Post reported.

The NYPD said there were no immediate arrests made and it is unclear whether or not the suspect’s identity is known.
