VIDEO: Student Says ‘Too Many White People’ Are Using UVA’s Multicultural Center

"Frankly, there's just too many white people in here," the University of Virginia student announced.

Charlottesville, VA – A University of Virginia (UVA) student delivered a now-viral, self-proclaimed “public service announcement” declaring that there were “too many white people” using the UVA’s new Multicultural Student Center (video below).

The original version of the video has been deleted, but not before it was reposted by the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), WCAV reported.

The UAF noted that “leftists” at the university were “dictating who is and who isn’t allowed in the new Multicultural Student Center.”

“This kind of racist intolerance is NOT multicultural,” the YAF said in the video caption.

The video showed the student as she paced around the room, calling for everyone’s attention.

“Excuse me! Public service announcement! Excuse me!” the woman said. “If y’all didn’t know, this is the MSC, and frankly, there’s just too many white people in here and this is a space for people of color, so just be really cognizant of the space that you’re taking up, because it does make some of us POCs uncomfortable when you see too many white people in here.”

“It’s only been open for four days, and frankly, there’s the whole university for a lot of y’all to be at, and there’s very few spaces for us, so keep that in mind,” she declared. “Thank you.”

The beaming student plopped herself down into a nearby chair as others in the room applauded and cheered, the video showed.

The footage has been viewed nearly four million times so far.

On Wednesday, UVA released a statement on Twitter welcoming all members of the community to the new Multicultural Student Center, which also includes an expanded LGBTQ Center and Latinx-focused and Interfaith centers.

“Since the opening, some questions have been raised regarding the scope or inclusivity of these centers and their missions,” the university said. “In order to foster the diversity of experience and ideas that make UVA a great and good place to study and work, these centers are open to all members of the University community.”

UVA President Jim Ryan also noted that he deeply believes “that we need to build a community that is not just diverse, but also inclusive.”

The student seen in the video did not respond to requests for comment, WCAV reported.

The Black Student Alliance told the news outlet that they are mostly concerned about the student’s welfare, because “the comments have gotten really nasty.”
