Hamilton, OH – An outspoken Ohio sheriff announced he would help celebrities pack their bags and raise funds for the travel if they vows to leave the country if Trump is re-elected.
The help comes with a catch – they must promise not to come back.
The offer made via Facebook on Oct. 20 by Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones has gone viral.
Sheriff Jones pointed to movie stars and sports figures who have said they are embarrassed or ashamed of the United States and have threatened to move elsewhere.
“These are mostly the same people that don’t like the police, that don’t like first responders, so I feel obligated to make a response to that,” the sheriff began.
“Good for you!” he encouraged them. “I hope you do leave. And if there’s any way that I can help, I’m not a rich person but I would be willing to throw in $10 to a special fund to help get you a flight or whatever it takes – a ship ride – to whatever country of your choice and maybe you can make a better life there in that country.”
“This is the greatest country in the world to live regardless of who the President is,” Sheriff Jones opined. “You don’t always get to choose the winner that you vote for, but it is the greatest country in the world to live. We have great police, we have great first responders. But these people are trying to tear down our country and talk about it and these other countries look at us as ‘what’s up.’”
“So here’s what I’m doing – again, the last election, the ones that promised never left,” he explained in the video. “I think they told us a lie. So this time, those that are going to leave – those special people, I call them – I hope you have all the luck and good for you.”
“Most of you can afford to leave, but if I put in $10 to help get you a ticket out of here, the rule is you can’t come back,” the sheriff warned. “You have to stay there and make a better life for yourself. And hopefully you get along with that country that you choose.”
Sheriff Jones released the statement along with a press release that said he “would like to extend an invitation to put money towards a one-way ticket for any celebrity that would like to leave the country this time around if President Trump is reelected,” WXIX reported.
“Hell, I’ll even help them pack,” he added.
Rockers Tommy Lee and Bruce Springsteen were the most recent celebrities to announce their impending departures from the country if President Trump wins re-election, WXIX reported.
In 2016, vocal liberal Democrats Alyssa Milano, Snoop Dog, Amy Schumer, Lena Dunham, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cher all reneged on their vows to move after Hillary Clinton lost.
