Houston, TX – A motorist thought he was just filming a police pursuit that would be driving by him. What he didn’t expect was for the suspect to stop and carjack him.
According to Click2Houston, On Friday morning, police responded to a report of armed robbers at Amegy Bank at 5301 Bissonnet Street in Bellaire. Houston PD located the suspect vehicle, a black Mercedes, and pursued the suspects on I-45. After pulling a lot of stunts to avoid the police, the vehicle was eventually lost its front left tire and was driving on only the rim.
Carlos Mora was sitting in his car with his son, Jose, in the 6500 block of Enid Street as he saw the pursuit coming towards him. Carlos started recording as the vehicle came towards them, driving on the smoking left rim.
Suddenly, the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and attempted to carjack Carlos. Carlos kept his doors locked, and Jose jumped out to try to tackle the suspect to protect his father. Police rushed in and took the suspects down.
Jose is being called a hero for trying to take down the robbers, but Jose said that he was just trying to protect his disabled father, “My world, that’s my dad. That’s it. The only person that actually understands me,” Jose Mora said.
“It was clear that these individuals did not care about the safety and well-being of the public,” Capt. Larry Satterwhite told the media.
