VIDEO: Police Take Down Motorist Who Plowed Through Kansas City Parade Barricade

A driver crashed through barricades lining the Super Bowl parade route in Kansas City on Wednesday morning.

Kansas City, MO – A car chase ended when police used a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle in the middle of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade route on Wednesday morning (videos below).

Kansas City police said a car broke through the barriers along the north side of the parade route at about 8:12 a.m. on Feb. 5, USA Today reported.

All of the law enforcement officers lining the parade route were notified and then Clay County sheriff’s deputies deployed stop sticks into the road.

The suspect’s vehicle struck the spiked strips but continued driving south along the parade route, headed toward where a crowd had begun to gather ahead of the parade, USA Today reported.

Kansas City police stationed multiple police vehicles along the route to stop the car and attempted multiple times to box it in and stop it.

Eventually one of those units successfully used a PIT maneuver to hit the vehicle and stop it on Pershing near Union Station and Crown Center, KMBC reported.

Witnesses along the parade route filmed videos on the cell phones that showed the police car’s PIT maneuver turned the suspect’s vehicle all the way around, and left it facing another police vehicle that arrived to block it in.

Two suspects were taken into custody, according to a tweet posted by the Kansas City Police Department.

Police did not know what the suspects’ motives were but said the driver was being investigated for impairment.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, KMBC reported.
