Terrytown, LA – A man broke into a fire station, stole tools and equipment, pointed a gun at a door that firefighters were standing behind.
The man then fled the fire station after the Feb. 8 robbery, according to The Advocate.
The sheriff’s office said some of the stolen property was discovered abandoned in Plaquemines Parish.
The video shows a man wearing shorts and a T-shirt who strolled into the station.
He peered into a SUV and then opened the door of a fire truck as he looked for something to steal. At one point, the man paused, took a few steps and took out his gun and pointed it at the door. Then he strolled off camera.
The Times-Picayune reported that there were firefighters and staff inside the building at the time of the burglary, which happened in the early morning hours.
Authorities think the man may have been startled by noises coming from the living quarters which may have prompted him to draw his gun.
It’s not clear what would have happened if a firefighter walked through that door.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
