Louisville, KY – A man was shot by police after he pointed his gun in an officer’s face and pulled the trigger. Video of the incident was captured on bodycam (below.)
The incident started at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, when Louisville Metro PD officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Breckenridge Square Apartments, according to WDRB.
Officers made contact with the three people inside of the vehicle, and asked them to exit.
The front-seat passenger responded by drawing a revolver, pointing it at an officer’s face, and shooting, according to WHAS.
The gunman, later identified as 20-year-old Elijah Eubanks, contracted a sudden case of lead poisoning as officers returned fire.
The officers were not hit in the gunfight.
Eubanks was transported to University Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, according to WHAS.
The officers were identified as Officer Ian Stuart, who has been with Louisville Metro PD since June 2016, and Officer Eric Goldschmidt, who has been with the department since Feb. 2015. Officer Goldschmidt is the bullet-dodger.
