Chicago, IL – A suspect who sucker-punched a man inside a West Garfield Park liquor store last week was fatally shot by his victim just moments later (video below).
The incident occurred inside a liquor store located in the 200-block of North Pulaski Road at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 31, WLS reported.
Security footage showed a man in a dark-colored shirt standing at a counter as a man in a light-colored shirt approached him from behind and punched him in his head.
The assault victim fell to the floor just before multiple people stepped between the two men.
The man who was punched then got back onto his feet and headed towards the door, the video showed.
But as he stood in the doorway, he suddenly pivoted and opened fire on the man who punched him.
The shooting victim immediately collapsed to the ground as the other patrons fled the store, the video showed.
Police said he was hit multiple times, CBS News reported.
The shooting victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
He was identified only as a 19-year-old male, CBS News reported.
Police said they are still searching for the gunman.
His identity was not immediately released, and it is unclear whether police know who he is.
