Holly MatkinSebastian County, AR – An armed woman in a stolen pickup truck rammed multiple law enforcement vehicles during a high-speed pursuit through Sebastian County (video below).
The incident began at approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 5, when 27-year-old Jennifer Porter allegedly stole a red Dodge pickup and a handgun from the 17000-block of Highway 45, the Times Record reported.
Porter was flying down Highway 71 near Greenwood at speeds of about 100 miles per hour when she was spotted by a Sebastian County deputy.
When the deputy tried to pull her over, Porter refused to stop and led him on a lengthy pursuit down multiple highways and county roads, the Times Record reported.
Bodycam footage captured the moment when Porter pulled out a gun and threw the truck into reverse, intentionally slamming into the front of a patrol car and disabling it.
Porter sped off, but was soon spotted by additional law enforcement officers who were responding to the area, the Times Record reported.
According to police, she crashed into several more patrol vehicles and tried to ram at least one citizen as she barreled down the roadway at speeds between 50 and 90 miles per hour.
The fleeing suspect was ultimately stopped by an Arkansas State Police (ASP) trooper who executed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the chase to an end.
“Bet they didn’t expect me, huh?” the handcuffed woman boasted from the back of a patrol car. “I mean look – I really didn’t intend for all this destruction, I’m just going through a lot.”
Porter was booked into the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing, and eight counts of felony aggravated assault the Times Record reported.
She is also expected to be charged in connection with the theft of the pickup, according to the Resident Press.
In addition to the disabled Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, three ASP patrol cars were also damaged, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident, according to KFSM.
