Milwaukee, WI – A drunk 19 year old broke into a house in downtown Milwaukee and woke up to find he had intruded on an Airbnb that had been rented by three Montana sheriff’s deputies (video below).
Flathead County Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Pesola posted the incident to social media and described exactly what happened.
Deputy Pesola said he was in Milwaukee for training with some of his buddies and that they were asleep when the break-in occurred.
“About 2:30 in the morning, I heard some crashing around upstairs, but I thought it was this guy going to the bathroom,” he said in the video, pointing to one of his friends.
“It wasn’t me,” the other deputy said.
Deputy Pesola said that one of the guys commented about how late he got home and that’s when they all realized there must be somebody else in the house with them.
Then they found one of the doors to the house was open, so they searched the house, the deputy explained in his video.
“Matt finds this dude laying in a bed in our house,” Deputy Pesola said, laughing.
“Dude broke into the house in the middle of the night,” Flathead County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Vander Ark said in the video.
“This silly guy found the one Airbnb in all of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, loaded with cops. He woke up in handcuffs,” Deputy Pesola laughed.
The deputies said they called the Milwaukee police and the intruder was taken away in a police vehicle by local officers.
Although they were laughing in the video, the out-of-town deputies said that it had really been a dangerous and potentially deadly situation, WISN reported.
“What if that dude stumbled into a bed with a kid, or my wife?” Deputy Pesola asked. “I mean, it could have been a different morning, right? So wrong place, wrong time, lucky place, lucky time, that there’s dudes that actually know how to handle that.”
He told WISN the 19-year-old suspect had no idea what had happened when he woke up in handcuffs.
“He had no idea where he was. He had no idea where he thought he was, and he didn’t know where he came from,” Deputy Pesola said.
The intruder appeared to maintain his own sense of humor in the video posted by the deputies, and said he’d never intruded on law enforcement officers before.
“No this is a first for that, I’ve woken up in random places,” the suspect said in the video.
Deputy Pesola, a K9 handler with multiple popular social media accounts, said he tries to post as much as possible, WISN reported.
“I try to make everything a TikTok video,” the deputy explained. “Part of what I do in our community is put myself out in front of people to be a real person. Cops have a hard time right now, and when they can see we’re still having fun and still real people and we’re good, it’s a good thing.”
Milwaukee police said the intruder was drunk and stumbled into the wrong house, WISN reported.
He was not charged or cited and was later released.
