VIDEO: Comedian Andy Dick Knocked Unconscious After Allegedly Groping Fan

Comedian Andy Dick was punched in the head by a fan outside a New Orleans club.

New Orleans, LA – A man who was arrested for punching comedian Andy Dick in the face and knocking him unconscious claimed that he only took the swing because the performer grabbed his genitals (video below).

The incident took place at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 10, after Dick finished performing at One Eyed Jacks on Toulouse Street, The Times-Picayune reported.

Surveillance footage showed Dick, 53, socializing with club-goers outside the building, just moments before 46-year-old David Hale walked over and punched him in the side of the head.

The blow sent Dick careening into a nearby motorcycle before he slammed onto the pavement, The Times-Picayune reported.

The comedian-musician said that he was “knocked out 100 percent for 15 minutes” and was hospitalized with brain bleeding as a result of the punch, according to The Times-Picayune.

But Hale said that he slugged Dick only after the entertainer grabbed him by his genitals.

He claimed that Dick groped him as he was saying goodbye to him after the performance, then winked at him, according to the Los Angeles Times.

After knocking the comedian out cold, Hale left the area on foot with a crowd of people trailing behind him, the video showed.

He has also been accused of striking one of the men who followed him, according to The Times-Picayune.

The Louisiana State Police responded to the scene, but did not make any arrests or issue any citations.

On Aug. 12, the New Orleans Police Department received a report about the altercation, and arrested Hale on simple battery and second-degree battery charges on Aug. 14.

Investigators are now looking into Hale’s allegations against Dick, The Times-Picayune reported.

“Hale doesn’t have a straight story,” one of Dick’s representatives told the paper. “He’s told several different stories.”

But it wasn’t the first time that Dick has been accused of groping someone.

In 2018, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor sexual battery and simple battery charges after he allegedly groped a random woman as she was walking by him on a Los Angeles street, People reported.

He was also dragged off of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show in 2007 for repeatedly stroking Ivanka Trump’s leg despite being told to stop, The Times-Picayune reported.

“Andy did a segment, he was a little out of it,” Kimmel told Extra at the time. “She [Ivanka] came out… he wanted a big, wet kiss. It was time for Andy to go, so I escorted him out by his feet.”

Kimmel said that Dick didn’t express any remorse about the incident.

“He’s Andy. He’s not upset. He’s not apologetic. He’s just nutty,” the talk show host told Extra. “He always makes me a little uncomfortable…You have no idea what he’s going to do next.”

According to People, Dick was accused of groping, making sexual proposals, kissing and/or licking the cheeks of at least four people while filing “Rising Buchanan” in 2017.

He was reportedly fired from “Vampire Dad” over similar allegations, People reported.

Dick also has a history of struggles with substance abuse.

His promoter, Robert Couvillion, said that the comedian did nothing wrong during his performance at One Eyed Jacks, according to The Times-Picayune.

“Andy was on his best behavior,” Couvillion said. “He didn’t disrespect anyone.”
