Rocky Hill, CT – Police are searching for four attempted carjacking suspects who attacked a man in his own driveway after he stopped them from stealing his car in broad daylight last week (video below).
The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on April 10 in the driveway of a home located on Valley View Drive in Rocky Hill, WVIT reported.
The Ring camera video of the driveway showed a black man in a ski mask, holding a phone to his right ear, as he ran into the driveway and checked the driver’s door of a red Infiniti parked next to a work van to see if it was unlocked.
The video showed the would-be car thief found the car unlocked, got into the driver’s seat, and started to close the door just as the car’s owner came racing out of his garage and stopped him.
The car’s owner grabbed onto the suspect and pulled his jacket off of him as they grappled in the video.
At one point, the suspect broke away and could have fled on foot, but instead, he went back for his jacket and attacked the car owner again, taking him to the ground, the video showed.
That’s when the attempted car thief’s friends starting running up the driveway to help him.
The video showed a dark-blue Mercedes stopped at the curb as first one, then another masked teen ran up the driveway to engage in the fight with the car owner who was winning against their partner-in-crime before they arrived to back him up.
The masked teens kicked and punched the car’s owner, one of them using a shoe to repeatedly beat the man on the head.
Then the driver of the Mercedes jumped out of the getaway car and raced up the driveway to join in the beatdown, the video showed.
He delivered multiple blows to the car owner’s head before a woman started yelling at them to go because she was calling the cops, the video showed.
All four attempted carjackers ran down the driveway on foot and hopped into the Mercedes, which screeched tires as it raced away down the street.
Police have yet made any arrests in connection with the brazen daylight attack and released the video in hopes of getting help from the public.
