VIDEO: Armed Service Member Recalls Trying To Save Kids During El Paso Shooting

Military service member Glen Oakley recalled the start of the mass shooting.

El Paso, TX – A military service member with a concealed carry pistol recalled the start of Saturday’s mass murder at Walmart.

An estimated 18 people were killed in the attack as people were shopping at Walmart for the new school year.

In an interview with KTSM, Oakley said that he was at the nearby mall when a kid ran in saying there was an active shooter at Walmart.

Oakley is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, and he had his weapon ready when he heard the gunshots from the killer.

He described as he was running through the parking lot, he saw kids fleeing the area without their parents, and he jumped into action.

“I got my bag in my hand, so I was just trying to pick them up one by one, as many as I can and just run out,” Oakley recalled.

He said that when he got out, the officers thought he might be the shooter, so he showed them his gun so they could see he hadn’t shot any bullets.

“It was a whole bunch of kids in there,” Oakley said. “I hope nothing happened to the kids. I tried to pick up as many as I could and bring them out with me.”
