VIDEO: Amazon Refuses To Help Police After Their Driver Is Caught Stealing

Amazon driver Jose Campos has been arrested for burglary and theft, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Davenport, FL – Amazon officials refused to help law enforcement officers after one of their drivers was caught stealing a package from a customer, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd (video below).

“I’m not surprised by much anymore, but this lack of cooperation from Amazon floors me,” Sheriff Judd said in a Facebook post on Thursday. “This is just irresponsible on their part.”

The Dec. 19 incident was captured by a Davenport resident’s security camera.

The video showed the Amazon driver as he brought the package to the customer’s door, set it down, and snapped a delivery confirmation photo.

He then snatched the package off of the front porch and left.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) investigators contacted the Amazon logistics center, but were immediately met with resistance.

“You need a subpoena,” several managers declared, according to detectives.

The company’s loss prevention manager agreed.

“All we needed was a name—they knew who committed this crime in Polk County, and they would not tell us without us serving legal process to their corporate headquarters in Delaware,” Sheriff Judd said in the post.

Undeterred, the detectives turned to the community security team and the homeowner to identify and apprehend the Amazon driver without the company’s help.

“The homeowner provided the video which recorded the theft and security at Watersong Resort provided the tag of the Amazon driver’s vehicle,” the sheriff said. “Detectives ran the tag and it came back to [the suspect’s] girlfriend in Kissimmee.”

The woman told investigators that her boyfriend, 27-year-old Jose Campos, uses her car to deliver the Amazon packages.

Campos allegedly admitted that he was the person in the video, and was subsequently arrested on charges of theft and burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.

Amazon has not responded to WTSP’s requests for comment.

“They apparently don’t care about the ongoing safe and secure delivery of their packages to their customers and exposing other customers to burglary and theft,” Sheriff Judd said in the post. “It is impossible to believe this was this guy’s only theft.”
