VIDEO: 12-Year-Old Girl Carrying Infant Flees As Gunman Shoots At Her 14 Times

Kansas City, MO – A home security camera captured the moment when a 12-year-old girl ran for cover with her 11-month-old brother in her arms as a gunman opened fire on them in their front yard (video below).

The harrowing incident occurred as Rosa Olivas was lying on the floor of her home while her children, 12-year-old Rubi and 11-month-old Julian, were outside watering the family’s tomato plants, the Daily Mail reported.

Home security footage showed Rubi carrying her brother down the driveway before she momentarily paused at the sidewalk after apparently spotting something off-camera to her left.

She quickly turned away and walked to the front gate just as a man jumped out from behind a large bush and screamed at her while pointing a gun at her, the video showed.

Rubi bolted for the front door and managed to get to safety as the gunman fired 14 rounds at them, KCTV reported.

Rosa Olivas jumped up off the floor when she heard the gunfire.

At least one of the bullets traveled through the open doorway, hitting her in the leg, KCTV reported.

The gunshot left her with a broken femur and the round could not safely be removed from her body.

Rosa Olivas now has a rod in her leg and said she plans to move her family far away once she is released from the hospital, KCTV reported.

She said it was a miracle her children weren’t shot that day.

“I feel there was an angel that wrapped her up and threw her in the house because nothing happened,” Rosa Olivas told KCTV. “No scratch on her, no scratch on my son.”

She said the gunman has since been arrested.

His name was not immediately released.

“Take care of your kids, make sure they’re a priority,” she told KCTV. “If they’re getting bullied, go to talk to the school, talk to the teachers, to the principal, to whoever you have to keep your babies safe.”

A fundraising page established to help Rosa Olivas and her family during her recovery has raised more than $1,800 so far.
