Norman police responded to a call about a domestic assault on Feb. 19 in the 1500 block of Lakecrest Drive.
Upon arrival, officers learned that 31-year-old Victor Manuel Minjarez had violently attacked the mother of his child, and then grabbed their son, Jody Minjarez, and fled the scene in a U-Haul truck.
The baby’s mother got an emergency Victim Protective Order (VPO) on Feb. 23, which ordered his father to return Jody to his mother, according to KFOR.
Then Minjarez sent a text message to a friend telling her to tell the baby’s mother that she would never see her son again, according to KFOR.
“Based on this information, it is believed that 7-month-old Jody Minjarez is in imminent danger of bodily harm or death,” Norman police officials wrote in a press release.
Authorities have asked for the public’s help in locating Minjarez and baby Jody.
Minjarez is driving a white 2008 Cadillac Escalade with an Oklahoma license plate 128KNQ, KOCO reported.
Investigators said they thought Minjarez may have stayed in the Oklahoma City metro area and stayed with a friend, or at a motel.
Police have asked that anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jody or Minjarez should call the Norman Police Department at 405-321-1444.
