Two Women Wanted For Armed Bank Robbery, Claimed They Had A Bomb

Police are searching for two women who robbed a PNC Bank in West Mifflin on Saturday.

West Mifflin, PA – Authorities are searching for two armed women who robbed a PNC Bank on Saturday afternoon, just before closing time.

Police said both of the suspects entered the PNC Bank on Clairton Boulevard wearing all black with black head scarves, KDKA reported.

The robbery took place just before 3 p.m. on June 23, as the bank employees were preparing to shut down for the day.

Police said that a black woman who was wearing a surgical mask, in addition to the black clothing and hood, approached the counter and told the bank teller behind it that she had a bomb, KDKA reported. Authorities now believe that the item she claimed was a bomb was actually just an oxygen canister.

Her accomplice, a white woman with red hair, had a black, wheeled suitcase with her and carried a black, small-caliber pistol, police said.

Authorities said that the woman with the handgun passed a note to the bank teller, and then ordered the teller to take her and her accomplice back into the bank’s safe, KDKA reported.

The bank teller complied, and the women loaded up with an undisclosed amount of cash from the vault before they made their getaway, police said.

The bank robbers were last seen walking away from the bank toward Century III Mall, according to KDKA. Authorities said nobody inside the bank was hurt during the robbery.

Police have released surveillance camera photos of both women, and have asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the bank robbers.

Anyone who knows the identities of the women in the pictures, or who has information about the robbery, has been asked to contact police at (412) 461-3125.
