Westerville, OH – Two Westerville police officers were murdered on Saturday after responding a a 911 hang-up.
The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. when officers were dispatched to a house in the 300 block of Crosswind Drive where a crying female called 911 and disconnected.
When the officers arrived, the suspect opened fire on them, mortally wounding them, according to WCMH.
One officer was pronounced dead and the other was transported to the hospital in critical condition before also being pronounced dead.
The suspect was wounded while being taken into custody and has been transported to the hospital. Details about the nature of the suspect’s injuries have not been released.
Neither officer has been identified at the time of this writing.
The Columbus Division of Police is handling the investigation.
