Two Security Guards Murdered At Vegas Casino

Two security guards at a Vegas hotel-casino were killed on Saturday morning while investigating a disturbance.

Las Vegas, NV – Two security guards were fatally shot at a hotel-casino while they investigated a report of a disturbance on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, just west of the Las Vegas Strip, at approximately 6:30 a.m., KVVU reported.

According to Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) Lieutenant Dan McGrath, a woman called security to report that there was a disturbance in a room on the fourth floor, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The unnamed security guards – one male and one female – entered the room, where they were shot by a man with a handgun, police said.

The gunman, described as a man in his 20s with tattoos on the back of his head, was the only occupant in the room.

After shooting the guards, the suspect fled the hotel and ran into a residential area, where he pointed a gun at citizens, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

He attempted a carjacking, but the driver closed the door on him, Lt. McGrath said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

His attempt to break into a different vehicle was unsuccessful.

The suspect attempted to force entry into an occupied residence, but was thwarted by the homeowner, FOX News reported.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the gunman then tried to force his way into a second home, but a mother with four children managed to prevent him from breaking through her door.

The suspect was able to gain entry to the woman’s garage and laundry room, where police said he shot himself in the head.

“I don’t expect him to live,” Lt. McGrath said.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, investigators were still working to identify the gunman as of Saturday afternoon.

“Everybody wants to know who he is, what his history is, and why he would do [this],” Lt. McGrath said.

The victims’ identities have not been released, but police said both were in their 40s, and that the female guard was armed, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

According to KSNV, the Clark County coroner will release the names of the guards after they are positively identified and their relatives have been notified.

The series of events that transpired in the hotel room are still unclear. Investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive for the deadly shooting, which remains under investigation.
