Two Arrested, Manhunt Underway For Third Suspect In School Shootings

There is a manhunt underway for the third suspect in Tuesday's high school shootings in Washington.

Graham, WA – Authorities have arrested two suspects in the Tuesday shootings outside Graham-Kapowsin High School that left two students wounded.

Police said a third suspect is still at large, and released a photograph of the wanted man, KIRO reported.

Two of the suspects are featured in the picture – police are now searching for the man featured on the right in the blue hooded sweatshirt (picture below).

Anyone with information about the third suspect is asked to call 911, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police said the Dec. 5 shooting occurred after a fight broke out near the school at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Two 16-year-old male students were shot, but were able to run to the school campus.

One student was found in a locker room, and another student was found in a parking lot by the football field, KIRO reported.

Within hours, authorities arrested a 17-year-old Graham-Kapowsin High student at his home, The News Tribune reported. Some sources said the teen was not a student at the school.

Authorities believed the other two suspects weren’t from the area.

After the first arrest, police released the photograph of the remaining two suspects, and said the pair fled in a green Chevrolet Impala.

Within an hour, more than 240 people had shared the photos of the two suspects, The News Tribune reported.

Early Wednesday morning, police arrested a second suspect in Tacoma – another 17-year-old male – after a Tacoma police officer found the green Impala outside of a residence.

Detectives said the shooting may have been gang-related.

“We think there was some type of altercation between two groups and we’ll be sorting that out over the next few days,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Ed Troyer told The News Tribune.

“There are different rumors out there,” he told KUOW. “Something about a football game, something about possible gang ties, something about a pre-determined fight. We’re looking at all those because it wouldn’t be prudent not to, but we’re not narrowing down what we think the motive was or who the suspects are until our detectives do some more investigating and some confirming.”

One of the victims was shot four times, and was being operated on, his parents said in a Facebook post, according to KIRO.

The other victim reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

Both teens were listed in critical condition, but are expected to survive, KIRO reported Wednesday.
